The UGA BCM exists to reach students at UGA and disciple them to be Christian leaders.
OUTWARD: Missions & Evangelism
BCM is a Christ-centered, church related, student-led, campus minister-directed ministry that seeks to provide opportunities for spiritual growth and Christian community throughout college. We provide several different ministries to get involved in:
Connections - We would love to get to know you better and have you be a part of the family. In a family, you BELONG! You are known and you have a place, you are valued and accepted. We're family-- one where we don't all look, think, or believe just alike but we respect one another, love one another, and desire for the Lord's best in and through one another! If you have any questions or comments, please contact us!
Fellowship - Fun and play are also important aspects of what we do at BCM. We love dances, socials, fun trips, retreats, tailgates, and any reason to get together and get to know each other better! We also provide quiet and social areas (and coffee!) in the BCM building throughout the school day for students to hang out between classes or study.
Inward Discipleship - Discipleship is an important part of our ministry. We have small groups, called DawgPacks, that meet on different nights of the week around campus or in an apartment or dorm. DawgPacks are where relationships will be built with other students and where the message on Tuesday nights will be made practical and applied to your unique life situation.
A critical part of any discipleship program and college ministry is learning to worship God privately and corporately. As you are experiencing the joys of college life, we will help you incorporate worship into your weekly routine. While we are not a church, we can provide you with worship experiences that fit your life as a busy collegian. Each Tuesday night at 8pm, we have Gathering with large group worship led by our house band and teaching led by one of our campus ministers or guest speakers.
Outward Mission - Just as worship is an essential element of discipleship, learning to serve others is also vital. Through DawgPacks, you will have an opportunity to participate in local missions and ministry projects. BCM also has a long tradition of missions service through spring break trips and summer and semester missions (www.sendmenow.net). Plus, we are going to help you connect and serve in a local church.
Our goal for you is, that by the time you graduate, you will have had training and experience to really know what it means to be a Christian Leader.... that within 18 months of graduation, UGA BCMers will be involved in a local church out of which they are leading in at least one of these:
- Developing a missional community on a campus, at their jobs, in an unengaged community
- live/plant/work among an unreached / unengaged group (in their field of study/ interest / calling or through a missions organization
- Planting or Strengthening a church in needed areas
- Advanced training for vocational ministry
- + two: give two years to serving a campus or church locally, nationally, globally.
